Symbiosis:
Coral and the Sea Cucumber
Sea cucumbers are an integral part of the ocean ecosystem. One of the main by-products of these creatures is calcium carbonate, an essential ingredient for the survival of coral reefs. Sea cucumbers recycle nutrients and keep the coral reefs in good condition.
Sea cucumbers are harvested and eaten as a delicacy in some countries. By reducing the consumption, it will promote healthy cucumber populations and keep our corals well maintained.
